Synopsis
This exhibition, curated by Senior Curator Nancy Hall-Duncan, was drawn from world-renown collections including the Epstein Family Collection; the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation in Houston, Texas; and the exceptional private collection of Nelson Blitz, Jr. and Catherine Woodward. The catalog investigates the major themes of Munch’s art: his exploration of the forces of attraction and the cycle of love, his evocation of anxiety and isolation, and his depiction of darkness and despair in essays by two esteemed contributors, Dr. Robert Rosenblum and psychoanalyst Dr. David Abrahamsen.
